5 Reasons to Read Revelation
Rather than viewing Revelations as a doomsday read, there is much to glean from this action-packed book. Below are 5 reasons to take another look at Revelation.

As a child I had reoccurring dreams of hearing a trumpet blast and seeing Jesus and His angles descending in the sky. The return of Christ to earth was so vivid that I woke up trembling.
“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him…” (Rev. 1:7) became very real to me.
So when others note their avoidance of the Bible’s book of Revelation because of its end-of-the-world themes, judgment, and more, I get it.
Still rather than viewing it as a doomsday read, there is much to glean from this action-packed book. Below are five reasons to take another look at Revelation.
1. Reading Incentive
Right from the start Revelation 1:3 offers the reader an incentive to keep reading stating, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it…”
Given this benefit, who wouldn’t want to continue reading?
2. Jesus Revealed
From the opening chapter Revelation reveals Jesus, “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (1:5).
Throughout the verses Jesus is described as the faithful witness, firstborn from the dead, ruler of kings, and tender Savior washing away sin with His own blood. These words confirm and remind me of God’s beautiful, sacrificial gift of salvation.
As the chapters continue, Jesus is made known in His splendor with Revelations 19:11-16 describing His majesty and authority “heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True…His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns … and He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”
3. Ready Resources
Revelation 12 outlines resources obtainable for facing daily life stating, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come.”
As well, this chapter outlines specific help available when the accuser of the brethren is on the attack, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death” (12:11).
4. Timely Peace
Daily headlines report world tensions and issues on the rise. Revelation gives a framework for these troubled times along with defining God’s resolution to the situation. Without this reassurance of God being in command of global affairs these distressing events could stir up a sense of despair and hopelessness.
Revelation offers peace, the assurance of God being in control, and a picture of His triumphant over wickedness stating, “And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, ‘Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!'” (19:6).
5. Incredible Inheritance
Throughout the Bible, God promises believers a happily ever after. In Revelation 21 it states, “Behold, I make all things new” and gives a picture of what it will look like including the wiping away of every tear and end to crying, sorrow, and death.
Chapter 22 continues explaining what this newness will encompass with no more pain, curse, and night. Darkness will cease to exist and instead of needing lamps or even the sun, Jesus will shine as our light.
Revelation describes the amazing inheritance promised to Christians stating, “He who overcomes shall inherit all things.”
Summing It Up
Overall, Revelation’s rich content offers insight, resources, and peace, along with the comfort that one day all forms of heartache will be wiped away.
As well, this extraordinary book offers the hope of a magnificent inheritance and bright future with Jesus.
