Reshaping It All: Chapter 19

Published

on

Hi Ladies! Ashleigh here.

We’ve reached the final chapter of Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness. If you are new here or needing to catch up, you can still comment on the previous chapters here — so keep those comments coming.

Also, I’ve love to have you weigh in on what book you’d like to see us tackle next. My plan is to start up our next selection sometime this summer. Should we do nonfiction again? Fiction? A biography? Share your thoughts.

To finish out the book, let’s hear from Darlene.

In chapter 19, this last chapter, Candace talks about entering into God’s rest — putting aside our desire for perfection to see that we are only made perfect through Jesus Christ.

There are those moments in every journey when we deal with emotion; sometimes we’re dealing with fear, sometimes it’s doubt, sometimes it’s guilt, and sometimes it’s a sense of failure. If you’re feeling any of these things, remember this: when you are weak He is strong.

At the end of Reshaping it All, Candace closes her prayer with these words:

Teach me contentment in all that I do so that I can say with all certainty, ‘It is well with my soul.'”

Allow your weakness to illustrate the strength and power of the One who seeks to rescue you…

But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

Enjoy the journey and live well!!

Blessings,

OK, now your turn. Here are some questions to get the discussion started:

  1. What did you think of Candace’s discussion of suffering and rest? Can you see how the cross and rest are related?
  2. What stood out to you the most in chapter 19?
  3. Now that you’ve finished the book, what do you think you’ve gained or learn most from it?
