Reshaping It All: Chapter 6

Published

on

Hi Friends! Ashleigh here.

It’s time to discuss chapter 6 from Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness. We’re still talking about the previous chapters — so keep those comments coming.

In chapter 6, Candace encourages us to remember that even though we may not fit into our ideal size of jeans yet, God loves us. As Psalm 139 states, each of us is “fearfully and wonderfully made.” While we have a responsibility to be good stewards of the bodies God has given us, our intrinsic worth isn’t determined by our physical appearance.

This isn’t always so easy to believe though, is it?

I love that this chapter was placed toward the middle of the book. It came at a point where my excitement had dwindled and I struggled with staying on track. I was discouraged by the fact that my jeans still weren’t fitting as well as I’d hoped by now. Negative thoughts were an issue.

But I haven’t invited these thoughts to stay for a pity party. Instead, I’ve taken action. In this chapter’s vlog, I share one way I’ve been combating this type of thinking — and I want to know how you’re doing the same.

Let’s hear from Darlene.

One day as I was reaching into the fridge for some strawberries, a revelation came to mind. It was then — during that moment of choice — that I realized a key factor in reshaping it all.

I had tried diets before. I had joined reputable groups. I had practiced things that I’ve learned … but the one ingredient I had been missing was this: persistence.

When you combine persistence with the grace of God, you become a dynamic living force. It’s as simple as that. Stop giving up when the going gets tough, and for once in your life, make it happen. This lesson in persistence is one to be applied to every area of our lives whether it be healthy eating, working out our marriage or trusting the Lord through a trial.

Stick with it, have hope, and press on!

Enjoy the journey, and until next time, live well!!

Blessings,

Here are a few questions to start this chapter’s discussion:

  • Do you weigh yourself regularly? If so, do you find it helpful or not?
  • Who has been your biggest encourager in life? How has this person molded you into who you are today?
  • How are you cheering yourself on?
  • Spread the love
